3:00-4:00 pm. Day 1

Panelists: Dave Alston, Ed McGinley, Susan Holt, Carol MacDonald

Facilitator: Rene Boudreau

To be a credible leader in social venture development in the region, we need to have the tools to enhance and enable rapid connections.  The Digital Society is one of those key elements.

Rene is the Executive Director of the New Brunswick Council on Research and Innovation and leads the innovation portfolio with the Government of New Brunswick. In this capacity, he works closely with stakeholders, government departments and agencies and research and innovation stakeholders in the province to transform how government operates and to foster the growth of innovation-based economic development in the province.

David is on a mission, with hundreds of other passionate New Brunswickers, to see our province shift from one of the greatest exporters of young talent to one of the greatest importers.

He's a big believer in NB becoming a Living Lab once again where technology underpins economic growth for our region. He's a Code Kids advocate, a cofounder of Brilliant Labs and recently was named as an advisor to the province's strategic program review - the exercise focused on re-engineering our government to live within its means.

David is a repeat tech and marketing startup entrepreneur, a Forbes top 50 CMO in social media, an advisor to many startups in our region and other parts of Canada, Radian6's former CMO and currently the Chief Innovation Officer at Introhive. You can connect with David at @davidalston.

Mr. McGinley joined the CGI team as a member of their Fredericton business unit in 1996.  While at CGI he participated in many and varied projects in many and varied capacities during his 16 year career with Canada’s largest independently owned IT Company.  His portfolio spanned across Telco, public sector, private sector and public non-profit.  He has experience in all levels of information technology including product development, analysis, leadership, project management, customer relationship management and business development.

Mr. McGinley achieved the level of Senior Consultant (’05) and Director Consulting Services (’11).

In December of 2014, Mr. McGinley assumed the role of CEO for the New Brunswick Information Technology Council (NBITC).   The NBITC is an independent body established by NB IT business leaders to be the curator of a vibrant and prosperous provincial IT sector.  NBITC acts as a catalyst to assist businesses, government, academia and the public to better understand how the adoption of technology enables what's important to them. This collaboration will enable a sector that is capable of generating continuous and sustainable economic prosperity for NB - across all sectors.

This has been an extremely exciting and rewarding period.  New Brunswick is at the beginning of another new frontier.  A frontier that will engage citizens with its government, discover and enable innovative ways to deliver government services to its citizens more effectively.  Mr. McGinley and the NBITC are extremely motivated to be part of this journey.
